A book of this magnitude ~ 450 pages of text and 1,100 photos ~ is the voice of many. Interviewing carvers, watching them carve, discussing their creativity and their frustrations, knowing them over the years. Meeting with retailers, conducting scores of shows in their stores. Meeting with retail customers, learning about their attraction to fetishes and their collecting habits, selling to storekeepers, seeing what they purchase and what they don’t purchase.
Scores of people have contributed to the content of this book ~ suggestions on topics to include, carvers to mention and even contributing photos from their own collections.
Others have contributed to the presentation of topics and ideas presented ~ the structure of the chapters and the contents of each section even down to the punctuation of each sentence.
